Hosta 'Dancing Crane'

Registered by Don Dean of Minnesota in 2020, this medium size (15 inches high by 35 inches wide) cultivar is a seedling of {[(H. ‘Liberty Bell’ × (H. ‘Urajiro Hachijo’ × H. pycnophylla)) × H. ‘Ebony Spires’] × H. ‘Astral Bliss’} × [(H. ‘Liberty Bell’ × (H. ‘Urajiro Hachijo’ × H. pycnophylla)) × (H. ‘Liberty Bell’ × H. yingeri)]  × (H. ‘Grand Slam’ × unnamed hosta)} × H. ‘Fluted Fountain’.

It is a yellow hosta with ovate foliage that is moderately wavy, slightly rippled and dull on top. The petioles have deep red speckles up three-quarters of the way to the leaf blade. Pale lavender flowers with translucent margins bloom from mid-July into August on scapes 26 to 30 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Upright yellow with cascading shape early becomes a flared mound of greenish yellow leaves later.  Heavily speckled red petioles and blushed scapes provide nice contrast...turns greenish yellow over the season ."
