According to The Genus HOSTA by W. George Schmid (1991), this is a hosta with lanceolate, green foliage that is sometimes mottled with  yellow and has a yellow marginal variegation. It is credited to Peter Ruh of Ohio.

There is also a cultivar sometimes called H. 'Yellow Splash Edge' which is an incorrect or outdated name for  H. 'Yellow Splash Rim'.
