Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery in North Carolina registered (2005) this hybrid of an unnamed seedling (blue H. 'Sieboldiana' seedling x an open-pollinated seedling) x H. yingeri. It forms a medium size plant with ovate, wavy leaves. Spider-shaped flowers of deep purple bloom in July.
