Originated by
Yoshimichi
Hirose of Japan, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage but has
H. rohdeifolia in its background.
It is a small size hosta with dark green foliage that
has a lighter chartreuse colored medial (center)
variegation. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
