This cultivar is similar to the species H. longipes and it is a non-registered hosta from Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan. 'Red Grande' is a medium size plant about 11 inches high by 26 inches wide with dark green foliage that has a moderate bloom on the bottom. The leaves have purplish red petioles.
