This is a duplicate, incorrect or outdated name for H.
'Humpback Whale'.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...a large-leaved
cultivar with an unusual mid-leaf
"hump". During the 2006 The American Hosta Society auction, a single
plant of 'Humpbacked Whale' sold for $3700...the spelling of the
name as 'Humpbacked Whale' was confirmed by Charlie Seaver
(Mildred's son)...though it appears as 'Humpback Whale' on
various websites and databases."
However,
in 2012, this cultivar was registered as 'Humpback
Whale' so that is the official name. |
