				 This hybrid of 
H. longipes hypoglauca  
				x H. 'Maruba Iwa' is  a non-registered cultivar from 
Cees Visser of the 
Netherlands. It forms a small size mound with foliage that is 
				ovate, wavy, has smooth texture and has a thick, white bloom on 
				the underside. It has intensely red petioles with the color 
				moving up into the midrib of the leaf. 
				
				The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
				Diana 
				Grenfell (2009) states: "Claret-pink dots along the midrib at the base of 
the leaf." 
				Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, 
			
			A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms  defines the term iwa as rock, Iwa Gibōshi or
			 
				H. longipes and the term maruba as round leaf or round-leafed.
