A seedling of H. 'Frances Williams' and a sibling to H. 'Midwest Gold', this
				cultivar was registered by
Violet Cooley of Arkansas in 1969. It grows into a large size
hosta about
18 inches high with a spread of 43 inches. The foliage is bright
gold colored, cupped and have thick substance. This cultivar
suffers slight to moderate spring desiccation which is notable
on this type of hosta. Near white flowers bloom in July. According to

The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...one of the first cultivars registered with
The American Hosta Society and can still be found in many
gardens...Unfortunately, gold areas of the foliage sometime burn
in the spring, and for that reason, I do not recommend using it
				in a hybridizing program."

						 "Plant
is smaller than the typical clones in the H. sieboldiana 'Aureomarginata'
group. An all-green sport also exists."
