Hosta 'Christmas Lights'

This tetraploid sport of H. 'Christmas Tree' was induced by treatment with the herbicide, Surflan. It is a non-registered cultivar from Jim Anderson of Winterberry Farms in Georgia. The leaves have a thicker substance that the mother plant and wider white marginal variegation. As the season progresses, the foliage changes to a darker green in the center with creamy white margins. It bears pale lavender flowers in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...this might be a polyploid, making it akin to being the 'Patriot'version of 'Christmas Tree'. Like the similar sport, 'Christmas Pageant', it differs significantly from 'Christmas Tree' and cannot be mistaken for it.
