This non-registered form
of the species
H. longipes is from Japan and was brought to the U.S. by
Gus Krossa of Michigan. It has
dark green foliage with white streaked
variegation.
A cultivar by this name
was listed on the
Hosta Library.
Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term iwa as rock, Iwa Gibōshi or
H. longipes and the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e.
something colorful and beautiful.
