According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "I'm not sure why this name change occurred. 'Birchwood Blue Beauty' was listed in Eunice V. Fisher's 1979 book (on p. 35) not 'Blue Beauty'...even The American Hosta Society seemed confused. They listed "H. (Birchwood) 'Blue Beauty', crediting "Summers-Shaw"...Some nurseries now offer the plant as 'Birchwood Blue Beauty'."
